Who has any input? I am looking to build a new machine; I know as of late that it seems Intel has the upper hand but I am always an advocate for the underdog. What are your thoughts?

It depends on what you need the machine for. I have an AMD build and it does great for me. I picked a not so great processor because I didn't do ample research at the time but it still runs fast enough for me. AMD gives you good performance at a great price. Intel gives you great performance at not so good price. I would say for gaming or everyday computing go with an AMD CPU to save money. If you need a lot of processing HP, say if your doing video editing/conversions, heavy graphic design or CAD then go with Intel. I do have high hopes for AMD's zen architecture, it is supposed to have a 40% increase in core performance over their current architecture.
